Blue Sky Wills Wing Scooter Tow Clinics

Gilles Arfeuille «colimamagic» writes:
Last week I had the chance to participate to the Wills wing/Blue Sky scooter tow clinic at Wallaby Ranch. Steve Wendt impressed me being the scooter towing Master. I tell you it is great to learn from the King. All the process was showed to us step by step from design to practical use. The design is cool, and the practical part is lots of fun.
The wind gods obliged us to early starts and late sessions (hopefully I had my night vision gear, just kidding), and Steve was up for it with a great positive attitude starting at 7:00 a.m. These changing winds also gave us the chance to see the limits of scooter towing and its great flexibility.
The learning curve was steep for us the participants to learn how to tow people but also for people who joined us to increase their skills or even learn from the start, so that was a real experience.
Steve's technique have great applications, from teaching a beginner to fly to pilots who have landing problems. Also, I have many paraglider friends who want to start hang gliding but I find the speed difference between the two kinds of flying sort of critical safety wise at the beginning of the learning curve (I personally fly both). Using the scooter tow with the Wills Wing condor will help them to go through the transition the safe way and have fun just before continuing on a Falcon and having even more fun (flying is about fun and passion, isn't it).
Many pilots tend to fly less and give up because they are scared to land. That is sad and scooter towing can really be the solution. I am back in Colima, Mexico and a local paraglider pilot has already given me a scooter, so that's a good start. A great thank you to Steve from Blue Sky and Mike and Rob from Wills Wing. And for the ones who never been to Wills Wing demo days you must go there to see and try all these goodies and meet all these great people.

New Flytec Speed Sleeves

Steve Kroop at Flytec USA «info» writes:
For years we have been struggling with different materials and
manufacturers trying to make really good speed sleeves and these are by far the
best we have seen. These are made from polypropylene instead of Lycra making
them, warmer, more wind resistant and less prone to wrinkle/bunch up. They also
have a plush finish inside so you can wear them against your skin in warm to
cool temperatures and because they are polypropylene they will wick perspiration
away from your skin. Available in M, L and XL.
